Choosing our RV

We spent several weeks looking for just the right RV. For this stage of our lives we wanted a smaller RV than our last 32″ model but enough space for two empty nesters and our grand dog Geoffrey. Because there are so many options to choose from, we made a list of our “must haves”.

Our checklist:

Small enough to get into state parks and state forest campgrounds (30′ max).

Easy to drive.

A queen walk around bed.

A sofa and dinette.

Separate shower and toilet.

Entertainment center above drivers seat.

Slide outs (at least one).

Full body paint (for better resale value and no cracking, chipping and pealing of decals).

When we had our list complete we began looking at websites such as rvtrader.com, craigslist and some of the big rv dealers. We found our unit in Florida at a small dealership and after running a carfax we determined that this was the one. It’s a 2013 Thor Siesta 29′ with two slide outs. A perfect size for the kind of traveling we plan on doing!
