Asheville in the Spring

We spent a spectacular month in the mountains of Western North Carolina and watched spring emerge from it’s winter hibernation. The Blue Ridge Parkway was breathtaking and the higher we wound ourselves up the mountain the more we had to stop and take in the awesome landscape.

It was a beautiful spring day with temps in the 70’s… warm enough to put the top down and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

We hiked along the wood land trail to Crabtree Falls…

…followed by a picnic at the top of the ridge. Absolutely stunning!

Of course you can’t come to Asheville and not try some of the fantastic places to eat. We spent most of our time in West Asheville, the up and coming side of town, where we indulged in the Chicken Gravy over Biscuits at King Daddy’s…

and Sunny Point Cafe’ for the Avocado Toast, well worth the 45 minute wait!

White Duck Taco proved to be one of our favorites with a variety of unusual ingredients and tasty combinations that I have never experienced on a taco. We ate at both locations, River Arts District and downtown Asheville.

There were just too many things to do and see in and around Asheville to put it all into one post. Stay tuned for the rest of the Asheville adventure!
